friendly reminder march 9th rude comments comments section rian
Posted by Everything under everythingA Friendly Reminder to People Commenting
Hey everyone, there is an important issue that I need to address on this website.
Lately, there have been some people in the comments section who leave nasty, rude comments directed at other people who leave comments. The reason they are nasty is because apparently, they don’t agree with what the other person(s) is/are saying.
I’m referring to the people saying things like “Oh, you must be pro-ana because so-and-so is so skinny and you don’t think she is!” and “You are a f*cked up w**re, go rot in h*ll for thinking so-and-so is too skinny/fat”.
Now, while arguing and debating in the comments section is fine and even encouraged, stuff like the comment examples I gave above is inappropriate. Since when are we (as people) not allowed to have difference of opinion? Since when is someone “pro-ana” just because they prefer to see a skinny/thin/slender person as opposed to someone bigger? Since when should someone rot in hell because they have a different opinion than you?? This world would be a super-boring place if everyone agreed and had the same preferences! Would it not?
I understand that a lot of people have eating disorders in this world. Yes, it is a serious problem. However, just because a person wants to be thin or prefers to see slim celebrities doesn’t mean they have an eating disorder. Take me, for example: I prefer to be slender and in shape. I prefer to see celebrities work hard to be in excellent shape. That is just MY opinion. It doesn’t mean I’m a terrible person or encourage eating disorders. At all. It’s just a preference! And I completely respect people who prefer the opposite.
So all I’m asking is for you, the people commenting, to respect other people’s opinions. Feel free to argue with them. Just don’t bash them personally and accuse them of having an ED or being pro-ed for their opinions.
That’s all I ask… thanks for reading!
